Lauro Cress is an award-winning director with a diverse background. Early on, he established himself as a drummer in the national music scene. He later earned his pre-diploma in architecture before shifting his attention to photography and film, studying experimental media at the University of the Arts Berlin (UdK). While working as a director of photography on music videos and commercials, he decided to concentrate on directing and went on to study at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB). He shot several short films that traveled to festivals worldwide, including the Guanajuato International Film Festival, Cinemajove Valencia, Asiana International Short Film Festival and gained experience on the sets of directors such as Thomas Arslan and Matt Porterfield. In addition to his successful career in advertising, his debut film, “Ungeduld des Herzens” won the Max Ophüls Prize for Best Film in 2025, along with the acting awards for both lead actors.
